We here at SSC to UPSC are extremely thankful to Amit Taneja for sharing this valuable information on CAG Auditor Post from his experience in the department for over 2 years.
CAG Auditor : –
Total Basic Pay : – 8560 + 2800 = 11360
Group C post Under Govt of India.
Promotion : – Auditor is eligible for promotion as Sr. Auditor ( Grade Pay 4200 – Group B ) after the completion of probation period of 2 years but on ground reality it takes around 3 or 3.5 years to become senior auditor.
Auditor is also eligible for SAS ( Departmental Exam ) after completion of 2 years of regular service.
If auditor clears departmental Exam he/she will be promoted to the post of AAO ( Assistant Audit Officer – 4800 Grade Pay Gazetted – Cadre B ).
After AAO post promotion are based on time and seniority in the hierarchy of : –
AAO ——> AO ( Audit Officer ) ——> Sr AO (Senior Accounts Offcer – ) ——-> Deputy Director / Deputy AG —— > Director / AG ——–> Principal Director / Pr. AG ———-> Director General
After AAO to AO it takes 7 to 14 years depends on Zone and Stagnation in the department.
If a person join CAG at 23-24 and clears department exam at 27-28, he / she can go upto Principal Director Post in the Department.
SAS is an easy exam comparatively and if u do not clears it … then promotion will be very low till retirement.
Auditor —–> Sr Auditor —–> Supervisor ( Till retirement )
There are different Wings/Department in CAG : –
Postal & telecommunication Audit
Work Load : –
very les work load at the level of Auditor / Sr Auditor .At the post of AAO the work load will increase but overall workload is not that much.
AAO is the backbone of the department ( Highest workload in the department ) and after next promotion workload will again reduce.
Social Life : –
The only negative point in CAG is social life as most of time u need to go for audits which will require fields visit. Thus your family life will suffer a bit here.
Power : –
Power wise it is very good job. U will enjoy VIP facilities while on Audit in any department.
You will be a very valuable person there.
Transfer : –
If u get state audit offices then transfer is very difficult , while in railways , defence , P & T it will be easy comparatively.
However mutual transfer will always work.
Extra Income : –
I do not support this part and will not talk about it. And would also request the youth not even to think about this.
So I guess here I shared every aspects of CAG auditor today. Wish u all a happy life in CAG.
Amit Taneja .
